We've Come A Long Way

I was thinking a little bit more about Geraldine Ferraro's sisterly defense of Hillary Clinton, and it really is kind of shocking she'd make it. That's becase when Ferraro ran for veep in 1984, she actually was subjected to some borderline--and sometimes outright--sexist remarks. READ MORE >>

Edwards Keeps Going

On the heels of its box office smash Politics of Parsing video, the Edwards campaign has issued a "correction"--which is really just a way of keep the anti-Hillary ball rolling.   READ MORE >>

I have no idea why the Clinton campaign wants to go back to a year that wasn't a very good one for Democrats, but in the last few days Hillary has not only rolled out Walter Mondale to give her his endorsement, she's turned to Fritz's old runningmate to play the gender card for her. Sticking with the theme of anti-Hillary videos, this one from the Edwards campaign--which continues to beat the 'politics of parsing' drum--is pretty effective. Forty-eight hours after the debate, we have lots of excuses, but we still don’t have a yes or no answer to a yes or no question. READ MORE >>

Rummy Agonistes

This Washington Post article about a bunch of recently released internal memos Donald Rumsfeld wrote while he was Secretary of Defense has a lot of good bits. (And how could it not? According to the article, Rumsfeld wrote 20 to 60 of these memos, called "snowflakes," a day. That's a lot of material to choose from.) But, for my money, this is the best one: READ MORE >>

I noticed that no one here has noted the passing of Robert Goulet. Maybe it's kind of sad that for a good number of people--including me--his greatest legacy will be some college basketball commercials he did for a cable sports network. But when you watch the actual commercials again, you realize it's not such a bad legacy after all. READ MORE >>

It looks like Bill Richardson is first in line. From the AP: Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson says he regrets the negative tone taken by 2 of his rivals in their criticism of front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton. The New Mexico governor has chided Barack Obama and John Edwards in their efforts to portray Clinton as beholden to special interests. READ MORE >>
