Potentially Ominous Sign For Romney In Today’s Gallup Numbers

While the twitter-verse was ablaze with the news that Romney seized the lead in Gallup’s tracker of likely voters, the underlying data hinted at troubling news for Romney. After making big gains among registered voters following the debates, Gallup’s most recent days of tracking have shown a shift back in the president’s direction, with Obama returning to pre-debate levels.

Similarly, Gallup’s 3-day approval tracker found the president reaching 53 percent, suggesting that the president fared pretty well in interviews on Saturday, as well.

Ultimately, this is just two nights of tracking, but it’s consistent with the movement in Rasmussen’s tracker, Obama’s strong performance in Colorado and Iowa in Rasmussen’s Sunday polls, and PPP’s tweets about the evolution of their samples. If confirmed by other pollsters, there’s a chance that Romney’s impressive bounce might prove short-lived.

Aw, how sad. Here Romney put out all those lies, and he only got less than a week of "bounce" out of them. Too bad about that 7.8% unemployment, only that's really good for America, even if it's really bad for Romney. If this is his strategy to election day, he's revealed it a little too early.

That's not what Andrew Sullivan said.

This poll data is enough to make you motion sick in how fast things go up/down.

AllanL5 Romney will live to lie again at the Town Hall Debate; and after each lie he will waive both fists in the air, way above his head and stand beneath a sign that says, "Mission Accomplished!"

Look at the start and end dates of all the national polls showing a Romney lead today on RCP. They all began and crested either during or just after the debate. The only poll that has come out taken purely since Friday's job numbers shows a tie, and even that's Rasmussen. I'm worried, of course, but not panicked. If I see numbers like today's from all polls beginning on last Saturday, then I'll freak out. Meantime, take a look at the Rand American life poll. It gives a much better picture of the situation, I think.

Don't think Romney's lies are the driver. Don't see how Barry's feckless performance can not affect the fence sitters. Would be surprised if there were no impact. Sullivan may be congenitally overwrought, but he's right to be upset with Barry's pathetic performance. He apparently didn't even prepare his closing summary in advance. Just blithered. I expect Mitt to be a bastard. That's who he is. It was BHO's to call him and provide a coherent rationale for Dem policies.

I just read that Romney is pulling ahead in the polls. How can people be so gullible, goodness. How disappointing.

Though Romney's jump in polls seemed to suppress the "polls are rigged" chatter among GOP, and admittedly the conspiracists were busy denouncing the job numbers, I am sure if Obama regains the lead, the riggers will be back. I guess it just shows GOP's preference for creating a parallel universe where their beliefs are always right, even when they are wrong. Unhinged seems to be the preferred state to being led by facts and data, which I find to be their most disturbing characteristic. You cannot resolve big issues if facts and history and science and math are utilized only if they fit your beliefs.
