Judis On Tea

John Judis has the best overview I've seen of the intellectual roots of the Tea Party movement. The movement, he writes, brings together three classic strands of American thought. Go ahead and give it a read. Yes, you have to subscribe.

I was about to read John Judis' article online when the postman dispatched the latest issue of TNR through my mail slot, so I just devoured it sitting on my couch, sipping coffee. It is indeed a fine piece. Judis scores Paul Krugman for writing that the Tea Party movement is simply an AstroTurf phenomenon. I have a good deal of affection and regard for Krugman, but when I read his sentiment last year, I thought how wrong he was.
