Joe Klein on Jeffrey Goldberg: -- But Goldberg's work is quite the opposite: rigorously reported, beautifully written and fiercely honest. This would be accurate were the colon replaced by "of." There is neither rigor, beauty nor honor in Jeffrey Goldberg's perennial assertion that someone he doesn't like is an anti-Semite. He likes to portray himself as the thinking man's Zionist whereas he is really just another Hasbarbaric aparatchick. Goldberg is not a reporter; Goldberg is not a journalist; Goldberg is a propagandist. I am not surprised Jonathan Chait fails to recognize that Goldberg is getting his ass whipped by Glenn Greenwald given that he was too stupid to recognize the thrashing Greenwald gave him a few weeks ago.

Hey Jon, when are you going to jump on this (paraphrased) Sharron Angle quote: "Unemployment benefits should be reworked to supplement lower wages, rather than being eliminated once a job is found, she argued." There is a federal program like this. It's called the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). It was original conceived by Republican superhero Ronald Reagan. And yet, in recent years, Republicans in Congress have pilloried the EITC as "welfare" and sought to cut it at every opportunity!!! So is Sharron Angle going to pledge that, if elected, she will fight back against Mitch McConnell's efforts to cut or eliminate EITC? Will she support Democratic efforts to make EITC fully refundable, i.e. so it covers what the working poor have to pay in state, local and social security taxes?

Glenn Greenwald, who thinks that Barack Obama is a greater threat to the free world than anybody in al Qaeda.

Just a suggestion, but you just might want to read Greenwald's original post and then go read Klein's interpretation, to see if it's a fair one ... it's not (and I'm not a fan of Greenwald), but it does speak ironically to Greenwald's point: Goldberg doesn't really have any arguments, just a lot of friends he can defer to.
