The Rich vs. The Middle

Chuck Marr goes through the CBO's inequality data and pulls out this striking finding:

This wouldn't be such a big deal if the middle class was also enjoying large wage gains. But it hasn't been. We've seen an explosion of income growth at the top and stagnation in the middle. And public policy has been driven by the Republican Party's determination to use the tax code to aggravate the trend.

Chait, and liberals in general, mistake cause of and effect of wage inequality. If you do the research and the regression analysis , the inequality is almost entirely explained by difference education/skills/choice of career. So the less productive get paid less and the more productive get paid more. Even Homer would say Duh! Liberals are the root cause of this inequality with teacher unions blocking more effective educations and liberal politicians promoting the insidious myth that Gov takes care of you.

I believe in this economy today, worker productivity is exceptionally high, yet wages are still stagnant. You should take a look at Nickel and Dimed as well, where people work their butt off, yet see no rise, or very little rise, in wages. It has nothing to do with productivity. Productivity today for the vast majority of workers yield stagnant wages, unless you are one of the lucky few, the very very few who are lucky in this country and get paid high incomes. And who is saying the government will take care of you? The government spends lavishly FOR high income earners-from stimulus projects, bailouts, tax cuts. What are you talking about? You act like we're living in Jimmy Carter's era, but that ship has sailed. What we do know, now more than ever, is that tax cuts to the very rich do not equate economic success for the majority. And the unceasing rise of income inequality merits serious deliberation that totalistic thinkers like yourself are incapable of undertaking.
