Way down here, leagues below the ideologies of the two parties, we independents practice something almost unknown in Washington D.C., i.e., common sense. We abjure technocracy, do actual physical work, wonder at the obsessions of our elected officials and deplore the absence of anything that resembles one-man-one-vote. All of our laws are aimed against the individual and in favor of corporations, which, according to the Supreme Court, have special personal rights. I like Eugene Robinson. In the old Star Trek phrase, "May he prosper".

Nothing on the white House release of the President's "long form" birth certificate? Of course, The Donald is claiming credit. News of the release must have been leaked before hand as a bevy of Republicans yesterday distanced themselves from the nutters. Official GOP talking point: It doesn't matter where Obama was born, what matters for 2012 is what he's done. Hmmm, how refreshing.
