I'm planning to spend more time grilling and less time blogging until Tuesday, but we may have an item or two before then. meanwhile, enjoy your Independence Day weekend. And to all those I've tussled with, left and right, bright and not-so-bright, let me take this occasion to toast our common love of country and opposition to monarchy.

I'm not sure that American conservatives have much remaining objection to a monarchy. They certainly don't seem to have much confidence in democracy.

Have a happy Fourth of July, Jonathan. You deserve a long weekend. It has to fatigue you, constantly dealing with epistemic closure as you do. Have a great extended weekend. A happy holiday to all the commenters, too: roid, Allan, Mike, blackton, Sophia, Bombay, Curran, nush, Tristan, et al.
