Now that I've got your attention: Hillary just said she hopes the AMT will one day be eliminated. Is that really such a great idea? Obviously it's annoying that more and more middle class people are having to pay it. But the basic idea behind the tax seems pretty sound to me. Why shouldn't rich people, who can hire a whole battalion of accountants to minimize their tax bill, pay some baseline level of taxes like everyone else?
