THE PLANK MARCH 18, 2009

Asme News

We're thrilled to announce that Jonathan Chait has been nominated for a National Magazine Award, in the Columns & Commentary category. His TRBs--brutal, hilarious, and blazingly smart--have become indispensible, and though awards aren't the be-all and end-all around here, it sure is nice when the right people get recognized. Below, you'll find the three columns that we submitted to the American Society of Magazine Editors:

"Obama Nation" February 13, 2008

"Popular Will" May 7, 2008

"Scared Yet" December 31, 2008

Congrats again to our friend, a possible recipient of The Colbert Bump.

Or, as the WSJ Journal would put it:

We're "thrilled" to "announce" that Jonathan Chait has been "nominated" for a National Magazine Award, in the Columns & Commentary "category". His TRBs--brutal, hilarious, and blazingly "smart"--have become "indispensible"....

That wasn't the "Colbert bump" you had, adaglas; it was regular old herpes.

Ratty, why must you always tarnish everybody's fun with your damnable obsession with genital warts.  Every frigging time.

To Chait:  Congrats on the well-deserved recognition! Your TRB's are truly things of beauty. If you don't win, I advise extreme bitterness and resentment and borderline criminal but hilarious conduct vis-a-vis the winner and/or the relevant members of "the society."

blah blah blah...

george:

The only thing more excruciating than those trying to emulate my intellectual prowess are those trying to emulate by comic genius.

Now, here's a suggestion.

Copy and paste what I just typed above in The Spineless blog. Jackson, Noga, Sleepy et al will have a fucking field day with it.

Now, I offer you this suggestion under no duress. It is of my own free will. I just want to see if I can endure the brutal ridicule that will descend down upon me from Marty World.

Pray for me.
