It turns out the anti-surge commercial was a regional ad and wasn't seen by, well, almost everyone. My apologies. But I stand by my serious disgust with GM. However reasonable their motives for laying off workers (and that is by no means a resolved issue), it was the height of insensitivity to portray a lay-off as suicide inducing.
