CNN.com makes mention of a new effort--complete with freshly launched web site--to draft Dick Cheney for a 2012 White House run.
This is just plain daft. Love him or hate him, I think we can all acknowledge that a presidential campaign, much less a term in the hot seat, would almost certainly put Dick in the ground. Parts of him may be only 68, but he has cardiovascular system of a 130 year old. The man's ticker barely made it through his VP years.
Liz Cheney's recent joking on Fox News about her dad's running again was enough to make me cringe. I cannot imagine any sane person making the suggestion in earnest.
I thought Dick was terrible for the nation (and is still a royal pain in the ass), but I don't want to see him dead. Here's hoping this particular conservative nuttiness is short lived.

It's tragic that the science of decapitation is still in its infancy. Although Dick's body may be failing him, his mind remains sharp as a tetanus-laden tack. A Cheney head, properly maintained, could prove a formidable opponent for Obama or any other Democrat. Of course he could not so much "run" for office as be wheeled around. I'm thinking he'd ride shotgun on a golf cart, with the tubes and stuff linked up to assorted tanks and filtering devices where the golf bags normally ride. One of those little carts they used in "The Stranger" to putter around the island would be perfect. You don't want the cart to hit a pothole so Cheney pops his tubes and goes rolling off into the bushes ("Must-See TV" notwithstanding), so he'll need a chauffeur used to driving slowly. What's Al Cowlings doing these days?

I would agree I also don't want to see him dead, but if I did I'd be lying. Terrible thing to say, but there you have it. I truly despise that m*****f***er. He's a bad actor and a menace.

tgossard, true that, besides Michelle is subscribing to magical thinking wherein if you wish someone dead and they die, it is somehow your fault. Wish away, you would only be guilty of an heinous fault if you were to express that to one of his young grandchildren, which you would certainly never do. And lets be honest, I doubt if Cheney were to kick the bucket tomorrow many in TNR land would shed even a semblance of a tear for him. Dick Cheney is a true turd of a man, and the world would be better off without him. And it is not his politics, I certainly bear no ill will towards shrub, Papa Bush, or Dan Quayle, it is the Dick's solipsistic personality, his arrogance, greed, narcissism, deceitful nature etc. that I loathe so much

Thanks, Wandrey. It occurs to me that, should Cephalocheney win, he can't put his hand on the Bible when he's sworn in; he'll have to use his tongue. I imagine the Oath of Office going something like this: Chief Justice Roberts: "I do solemnly swear..." Cephalocheney [tongue on Bible]: "ah-ah-ahahah-ah..." Roberts: "...that I will faithfully execute..." Cephalocheney: "...ah-ah-ah-ahahah-ahahah..." Roberts: "...the office of President of the United States..." Cephalocheney: "...ah-ahah-ah-ahahah-ah-ah-ahahah-ah..." etc.
