From the Times's Spitzer story:
As attorney general, [Spitzer] also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.
In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger
after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end
prostitution ring out of Staten Island.“”This was a
sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management
structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. ”It was, however, nothing
more than a prostitution ring.”

'Course, instead of flea-bit peanut monkeys like Spitzer running around speaking with revulsion and what not, we could always legalize and license prostitution, enforce health regulations, collect taxes, etc. Get rid of the pimps, raise the status of providers (and johns), reduce unemployment, reduce drug abuse, reduce HIV transmission etc. etc.
And while we're at it, tax houses of worship.
Fuck. Is it too late to run for President? I mean, for Goddess' sake, somebody other than these white-bread weenies (Clinton, McCain, Obama et al.) needs to step up, people. Cheeses, humanity is so overdue for blowing ourselves up (not to mention blowing ourselves). I mean, come on. You find out somebody's just pushed the button, the missiles are launched, we are indeed going to blow ourselves up--are you surprised? I think not. For sooth, being wiped out by some exogenous random event for which we are not in any way responsible (e.g. gamma burst, asteroid, Yellowstone supervolcano) would just be WRONG. We deserve to die, slowly and horribly, secure in the knowledge that we did it to ourselves, through our abject stupidity and myth addiction.

"Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger..." Morons, everywhere!

I am a simple man, and things like this go right over my head: A little bit ago, Jeffrey Toobin was on CNN expressing his shock over the revelations of the moralistic Gov. Spitzer's behavior.
This is what I don't understand: Since when has the hypocrisy of politicians been shocking?

Politicians are just so much fun. What would we do for entertainment without them?

Compartmentalization for sure. Psychologists call it something else: "REACTION FORMATION"
Anna Freud can set us straight. The definition is:
Reaction Formation reduces anxiety by taking up the opposite feeling, impulse, or behavior. An example of reaction formation would be treating someone you strongly dislike in an excessively friendly manner in order to hide your true feelings. Why do people behave this way? According to Freud, they are using reaction formation as a defense mechanism to hide their true feelings by behaving in the exact opposite manner. "

Anyway, as NY Attorney General, Spitzer was known for busting up prostitution rings!
Enough said?
