Go Home Man Bites Frog

THE PLANK SEPTEMBER 24, 2009

Man Bites Frog

If Glenn Beck were a regular reader of Jim Fallows, he'd be well aware of the "if you put a frog in boiling water" fallacy. But he's not, evidently, and this is the sorry result. I imagine a strongly worded letter from PETA is in the offing. Worse, from Beck's perspective, he's just metaphorically informed his viewers that their populist rebellions are about to, well, expire:

I think we have a nominee to replace Douglas Feith as stupidest fucking guy on the face of the earth. That clip is truly hilarious, and I loved the way Beck said after he laboriously set it all up "forget the frog" I truly don't understand how no one on the set, not one producer, not one underling (someone had to get those frogs) didn't think to mention that if you throw a frog into boiling water it won't jump out, it will die.

You are assuming, blackie, that a rational clear thinking person would work with Beck. Hell, he wouldn't be on TV at all if just one person on the entire Fox network could think rationally.

An inane stunt, but there was no frog (he let it escape as he was pulling his hand out of the frog box). The clip doesn't go on long enough to provide whatever point Beck was trying to make.

If a frog actually was harmed, then that is (A) evil and (B) a misdemeanor crime in most jurisdictions in this country. Also a sign that Beck may be an honest-to-goodness sociopath of the working-his-way-from-animal-abuse-to-serial-killer variety.
