There are multiple views of today's McCain campaign defenestrations. Marc Ambinder has McCain people telling him that Terry Nelson wasn't fired. Jonathan Martin, meanwhile, reports that Nelson was fired--which led to John Weaver and Mark Salter's resignations. Everyone seems to agree that none of the departures were amicable and that Rick Davis, who ran McCain's campaign in 2000, is now in charge.

P.S. For old time's sake, now would seem like a good time to read Conor Clarke's TNR takedown of Terry Nelson, back when Nelson was still McCain's campaign manager and was seemingly riding high. As Clarke wrote, Nelson was supposed to be McCain's "hatchet man." Little did McCain know that Nelson would be taking the axe to his own campaign.
