One line in particular from today's WaPo analysis of its latest Palin-related poll highlights a key challenge to any dreams of national office being entertained by the soon-to-be-ex-governor: "Among white evangelicals, Huckabee outpaces Palin and the others by better than 2 to 1."
White evangelicals, as the Post also notes, are at the heart of Palin fever--and even they seem to be tiring of her. If she's already fading among that crowd, who has she got left? Besides Bill Kristol, I mean.

With the Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes, and Greta Van Susteren data points, we can say that among sexually active men who've met Palin in person, she has an approval rating that approaches 100 percent. And unlike white evangelicals, that's a demographic that Palin can actually expand as she campaigns. If Palin can personally meet 14 million Republican-leaning men by late 2011, the GOP nomination will be in the bag.

greta is a man? actually, that kind of makes sense considering how slavish she is. people are ignoring religious based sexism. Fundies will not vote for a woman for President, as VP absolutely since VP is kind of like a wife.
The text of Genesis 2:7 and 2:18-24 teaches us that man was made first, and then the woman was made to be man’s helper and companion. The Bible instructs us that this order of creation was by God’s design, and that it establishes the positional priority of the man over the woman in regards to authority and leadership.” “But I would have you to know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God” (1 Cor. 11:3).
The Biblical Picture of a Virtuous Woman Is Against a Woman Holding Civil Office.
In Proverbs 31:10-31, we are given the biblical picture of a woman who fears God and walks in His ways. The passage begins with a question: “Who can find a virtuous woman?” The question implies that such a woman is rare and precious, just like rubies. The description of the virtuous woman shows her to be an industrious, loving woman who devotes herself to the well-being of her husband and children. The center of her interest and the place of her ministry are in her home. God has called her to be “a keeper at home” (Titus 2:5), and she willingly and joyfully fulfills her calling to the great blessing of all who depend on her piety, wisdom, and homemaking skills.
I shit you not, you can find thousands of websites by these lunatics. Sarah does not have a shot.

Unlike Puerile Palin, Huckabee actually has some substance and is as contextual as Palin is vapid. I'd easily vote for Huckabee over Romney.

kevincollins: I believe that is what some call damning with faint praise.

Do we have any proof that Kristol is, in fact, sexually active? I always assumed his hard crush on Palin was due to his sexual inactivity.

That may be, dhuey, but I'm with kevin: disagree with the Huckster about just about every issue though I do, I honestly believe Huckabee would be the most competent president of any of the top Republicans. If you put a gun to my head and forced me to choose any plausible Republican to be president, I'd probably choose Huckabee, and I wouldn't be ashamed of the choice. Huckabee does not strike me as a likely bad president, just as a president of at least average ability with whom I disagree.
Considering that any number of leading Republicans must be regarded as actual threats to the republic should they become president -- there is no shortage of wannabe Putins among a cohort that includes Giuliani, Palin, and Allen -- I regard Huckabee with downright equanimity. My only concern is that the man is such a master of one-on-one TV communication that I also regard him as the Republican most likely to win a national election at the moment. So as an American, he's the Republican I would most want to be president, as a Democrat he's the Republican I would least want to be nominated.

Mme. P. has at least 2 1/2 years to screw her campaign on her own (with help?), then all else accounted for, she can announce her candidacy, then have a year and a half to stir up enough reaction and resentment (with copious amounts of help from Dr. Limbaugh, Cheney, etc.), and develop her delivery (oh, and yes, her policy stands) to take the nomination. If successful in strategy, what can anybody do about it? She's the Reaction Lady, also the MIghty Resent-er. Conservatives will eat it up, bottom to top.
Maybe.

By quitting as the governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin damaged herself far more than the left-wing media or the socialaists (read Democrats) ever could have.
