One Nation's Trash Is Another Nation's Treasure

Investigators at the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, revealed yesterday (according to an AP dispatch by Sharon Theimer in the Boston Globe) that the Pentagon sold 1,400 parts usable in F-14 Tomcat fighter jets. Which country has been in the market for parts to the F-14? Iran, which is trying to keep their planes flying.

Imagine if it were a Democratic Pentagon that had committed the ghastly error of offering in a squishy and shady market elements of the Tomcat without which these older planes would be obsolete. Moreover, Iran is known to be "aggressively" shopping for essential components from America's retired U.S. fleet.
