Take No Hostages

Al-Azhar University in Cairo is one of the austere universities of Sunni Islam. So it is perhaps an important sign that several of their most eminent sheikhs have finally (and textually) condemned the taking of civilian hostages in war and even lesser conflict.

Will anybody listen? We'll jave to wait and see. For the Al Azhar texts we are obliged, as for so many other significant documents, to MEMRI.
