*Although I frequently hear this accent in what is now my home state, a source close to The Treatment e-mails that it's actually "an upper-plains accent–Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas." I take the rejoinder seriously, since the source happens to be a well-known authority on all things Michigan.
