THE PLANK APRIL 26, 2007

A Star Is Born

With 3725 votes cast in a DailyKos poll asking who won tonight's debate, Mike Gravel is ahead of Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson, and (of course) Hillary Clinton.

Update: At about 6000 votes Edwards is the clear winner, a shade ahead of Obama. (And Hillary has edged ahead of Gravel...)

Who here is not looking forward to Gravel being posted up on ever Republican media outlet as the face of the Democratic party? Subquestion: Who here hates themselves for kind of agreeing with him on some things, but hating him for potential damage he might do, and then getting hideously depressed at the state of our politics? Sub-subquestion: Who thinks drinking 17 beers and ruminating about politics and then posting on this august blog-thing a bad idea?

Well over 90% of the American public has, and will continue to have, no idea whatsoever who Mike Gravel is, regardless of how many debates he ends up participating in. The GOP won't be able to do anything with him.

Gravel did well by being a jerk A can't-miss strategy for doing well with the Kossack crowd, anyway
