Yesterday I noted that the DLC, once an essential stop for any rising national politician, hasn't attracted any presidential candidates to its annual summer meeting this weekend.
Now a savvy tipster alerts me that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards have a pressing conflict this weekend: They'll all be appearing at... the College Democrats' national convention in South Carolina.
Caveat: The DLC has landed Bill Clinton as a speaker--which ain't nothing. But Bill and the DLC go way back. It's still quite revealing of the state of the party that its top three presidential candidates would rather be addressing college kids than associating themselves with "centrism."
