The secretary of defense, Robert Gates, revealed two hush-hush secrets on television this morning.
1. that Iran intended to develop nuclear weapons. No shit!
2. that the matter of closing Guantanamo was "more complicated than we thought." Surprise, surprise.
The first of these revelations is especially significant. What does it say about the president's adventures in sympatico diplomacy? This is hard to say: but I believe it's an utter failure.

MP: No shit! george: Good for you, Martin. You're scatologically pissed off. I know the feeling, comrade. As for Obama [the reactionary First Dude behind the fancy liberal facade] coming to conclude Guantanamo was, uh "more complicated" than he ever imagined it could be as a candidate, what can I say but, "No Fucking Shit!!!" Do you dare top that scat? ; o ) gw

Marty, I don’t know about any hush-hush secret being revealed by Bob Gates. From the time they made the decision to close Gitmo, the administration acknowledged the process would be complicated. There’s no news there. The only thing Bob Gates confirmed this morning (I saw him on TV) was reports that the closing will miss the set deadline. As to your second point, the US has always maintained they suspect the Iranians of trying to build nuclear weapons. How’s this news to you? Why would you misrepresent facts that are public knowledge? That does not augur well for the credibility of any new information from you. More so on the things your readers cannot verify on their own. If you have to bend the truth in order to fit your conclusion, maybe your conclusion needs revising.
