Dubious Claim of the Day

From today's White House press briefing:

Q:  President Obama, last month in Pittsburgh, said of the Afghan elections and the aftermath, "What's most important is that there's a sense of legitimacy in Afghanistan among the Afghan people for their government."  Is there a sense of legitimacy in Afghanistan among the Afghan people for the Karzai government?

MR. GIBBS:  Well, I have no reason to believe there is not.

Q: williamyard, a recent survey by the United States Chamber of Commerce revealed that a significant number of American office workers spend at least part of each work-week looking at porn on their company computers. As an office worker yourself, have you ever looked at porn while at work? A: Well, the Chamber certainly has no reason to believe that I have. Or at least their Subcommittee on Paid Holidays and Snacks does not. Probably. Q: But-- A: Look we can beat around the bush...so to speak. What's important here is that, for all intents and purposes, where I think we can all agree is that viewing porn during either the morning or evening commute represents a grave danger to fellow commuters. Unless maybe you're on public transportation. However-- Q: I don't see how-- A: Of course not. You were joking, and I appreciate the attempt to bring levity to an otherwise tense situation. I know what I generally do when I'm tense, but unfortunately at the moment I'm not at work. Q: But you just said-- A: Now, don't misquote me. What I SAID was that the Chamber of Commerce has the right to monitor the Internet viewing habits of its own employees as it sees fit. Next question?
